Exploring EMR Implementation in Kuwait and the United States

تمثل السجلات الطبية الإلكترونية نقلة نوعية في إدارة رعاية المرضى، حيث تلعب تكنولوجيا المعلومات دورًا محوريًا في تنفيذها الفعال لضمان جودة الرعاية. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى تقديم رؤى شاملة حول النشر الفعال لتكنولوجيا المعلومات في قطاع الرعاية الصحية في الكويت والولايات المتحدة. فهي تقدم منظوراً جديداً لفهم متطلبات تنفيذ السجلات الطبية الإلكترونية، وتحديد كيفية تعامل مقدمي الرعاية الصحية مع حل المشكلات في الخدمات الطبية، وتوضيح الدور الحاسم لتكنولوجيا المعلومات في عمليات تنفيذ السجلات الطبية الإلكترونية. انطلاقًا من نظرية نشر الابتكار وتحليل الشبكات الاجتماعية، نسعى في هذا البحث إلى توضيح سبب تبني بعض الأنشطة السريرية في مجال الرعاية الصحية ممارسات جديدة بسرعة بينما تتخلف أنشطة أخرى عن الركب. تستخدم هذه الدراسة كلا من البيانات النوعية والكمية التي تم جمعها من كبار المديرين التنفيذيين لشركات خدمات الرعاية الصحية المتعددة. من خلال تحليل هذه البيانات، نهدف إلى الحصول على فهم أعمق لدور تكنولوجيا المعلومات في تنفيذ السجلات الطبية الإلكترونية، والاستراتيجيات التي تستخدمها مؤسسات الرعاية الصحية في الكويت والولايات المتحدة لنشر أنظمة السجلات الطبية الإلكترونية بشكل فعال.

Electronic medical records (EMR) represent a paradigm shift in patient care management, with information technology (IT) playing a pivotal role in its effective implementation to ensure quality care. This study aims to provide comprehensive insights into the effective deployment of IT in the healthcare sector in Kuwait and the U.S. It offers a fresh perspective on understanding the requirements for EMR implementation, identifying how healthcare providers tackle problem-solving in medical services, and elucidating the crucial role of IT in EMR implementation processes. Grounded in Diffusion of Innovation and Social Network Analysis, we seek to explain why some clinical activities in healthcare rapidly adopt new practices while others lag behind. The study utilizes both qualitative and quantitative data collected from senior executives of multiple healthcare service firms. By analyzing this data, we aim to gain a deeper understanding of IT's role in EMR implementation, and the strategies employed by healthcare organizations in Kuwait and the U.S. to roll out EMR systems effectively.
