"من خلال عدد من الدراسات التي تم اجراؤھا على مرضى تكیس المبایض لوحظ أن نسبة انتشار خمول وظائف الغدة الدرقیة المبكر تفوق نسبتھا
لدى عامة أفراد المجتمع، مما قد ینعكس على طبیعة ودرجة المؤشرات المرضیة لمتلازمة تكیس المبایض بحسب مستوى وظیفة الغدة الدرقیة.
أھمیة ھذا الأمر تكمن في أن الإصابة بخمول وظائف الغدة الدرقیة المبكر قد یعزز من التبعات السلبیة لمتلازمة تكیس المبایض مثل زیادة الوزن
قابلیة الإصابة بالسكر""، اضطراب في ھرمونات الأنوثة والعقم أثبتت بعض الدراسات أن شدة أعراض متلازمة تكیس المبایض ترتبط بمستوى
ھرمونات الغدة الدرقیة مما قد یساعد في تصنیف مرضى تكیس المبایض بحسب مستوى ھرمونات الغدة الدرقیة وبالتالي ینعكس على طبیعة العلاج.
لذلك فإن ھذه الدراسة تھدف الى الإجابة على الأسئلة التالیة:
1. ھل خمول وظائف الغدة المبكر لدى مرضى تكیس المبایض أكثر انتشارا منھ لدى عامة أفراد المجتمع؟
2. ھل یختلف مستوى وظائف الغدة الدرقیة بحسب طبیعة ودرجة المظاھر الصحیة المصاحبة لتكیس المبایض؟
3. ھل ھناك مستوى معین لوظائف الغدة الدرقیة تتفاقم عنده أعراض متلازمة تكیس المبایض؟
50 ما لم تنقطع عنھا الدورة، إلى المستشفى لعمل التالي: ستكون ھناك زیارة واحدة تقوم بھا السیدة المشاركة البالغة الكاملة الأھلیة من سن - 21
1. لأخذ التاریخ المرضي للتأكد من التشخیص واستیفاء المتطوعة لمعاییر الدراسة وجود أي مشاكل صحیة مصاحبة أو خلل في الغدة الدرقیة.
2. القیام بالفحص السریري لتوثیق المؤشرات الصحیة والمظاھر المرضیة لتكیس المبایض، وأخذ الفحوصات المخبریة والتي تتضمن عینة
دم واحدة بمقدار 10 ملم ولمرة واحدة فقط عند الزیارة الأولى).
3. عمل سونار خارجي للغدة الدرقیة وللحوض لمرة واحدة فقط في الزیارة الأولى لفحص المبایض والرحم في قسم الأشعة في مستشفى مبارك الكبیر."

"This research attempts to explore the manner of relation between two common clinical problems, the first is Poly Cystic
Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), which is a status associated with abnormal hormones in particular hyperandrogenism with
the presence of multiple peripheral small cysts in the ovaries, and the second is Sub-Clinical Hypothyroidism (SCH),
which is an early and subtle state of thyroid hypofunction. The association between the clinical and biochemical
parameters of PCOS and certain cutoff of thyroid status as represented by thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) has
been investigated by several authors. Many authors suggested positive correlation, however, others did not get this
relationship. So, a uniform correlation has not been established yet in the medical literature. So, the aims of the current
study is to explore whether there is an association between PCOS and SCH, to provide an understanding whether
there is a cutoff level of TSH which correlates better with clinical and biochemical manifestations of PCOS, to analyze
the relationship between selected clinical and metabolic parameters in young women with polycystic ovary syndrome
and the status of subclinical hypothyroidism ,and to use this study as a template for another simultaneous/future
study exploring the benefits of thyroid hormone treatment as a potential agent improving the clinical and metabolic
consequences of PCOS, suggesting a better management plan. A cohort of 150 adult PCOS patients, newly diagnosed
in the age group of 21-50 years and menstruating, will be recruited from our endocrine clinics in Mubarak Al-Kabeer
hospital, over a period of 24 months. Subjects are excluded if they are known to have previous thyroid disease or
having family history of thyroid disorders. The thyroid status for all subjects will be assessed on their initial visit, and will
divide the patients in to euthyroid PCOS or those with SCH according to the most widely adopted biochemical definition
of SCH. The candidates will be evaluated clinically and the biochemical parameters will be assessed by taking blood
at the follicular phase of the cycle (a single sample of 10 cc blood). Thyroid and pelvic transabdominal U/S will be
performed at baseline in radiology department in Mubarak Al-Kabeer hospital."
