The Impact of Financial Liberalization on the Islamic Banking Industry

تنامت صناعة الصيرفة الإسلامية بمعدلات كبيرة خلال العقود الثلاثة الماضية نتيجة لزيادة الثراء لدى المسلمين حول العالم ، وزيادة الفوائض المالية الناتجة عن مبيعات النفط وتوافر السيولة المالية في اقتصاديات دول الشرق الأوسط ، علاوةً على ظهور الصحوة الإسلامية في هذه المنطقة وفي العالم بشكل عام والتي أدت في مجملها إلى زيادة الطلب على التعاملات المصرفية الإسلامية ، ومن ثم الطلب على المصارف الإسلامية التي تمنح أسلوباً وآلية ابتكاريه مختلفة عن المصارف التقليدية ويُضيف تنوعاً في الشبكة المالية العالمية. تعتبر العمليات البنكية المتّبعة في الصيرفة الإسلامية إقليمياً وعالمياً من أبرز السمات الإيجابية التي يتمتع بها هذا القطاع إلا أنه يواجه عدداً من التحديات التشغيلية والهيكلية التي يجب التغلب عليها ليتعايش وينمو في ظل مناخ التحرر المالي.

The Islamic financial industry has grown rapidly over the last three decades, especially with the increased accumulation of wealth amongst Muslims around the world and the surplus in petro-dollars that has accumulated in the oil surplus economies of the largely Muslim Middle East, where a revival in religious consciousness in the region and globally, is driving an increased demand for Islamic banking. Analyzing the worldwide practice of Islamic banking as it is carried out in the world today, with the provision of a global snapshot and a regionally selective review of Islamic banking operations, has revealed many of the advantages that this sector enjoys and many of the operational and structural challenges that this sector must address and correct in order to survive and grow in the prevalent climate of increased competitiveness induced by financial liberalization.
