Project: General ResearchGeneral Research 2015 Cycle 1

Project Details

Abstract English

Inherited Cardiomyopathies are major contributors to heart failure and to sudden death among young people. The incidence of these diseases in the Middle East, and the genetic mutations locally responsible have never been adequately studied to date, nor are the mechanisms of remodeling in the heart following the onset of disease properly understood. Improving knowledge in all ofthe above can lead to improved preventive and therapeutic outcomes for individuals at risk or suffering from these conditions.
Kuwait _is an ideal location to pursue the clinical and imaging arms of this study, in collaboration with UK genomic, bioinformatics and laboratory research expertise
