Abstract English

Kuwait is facing a new era in the higher education field. Annual increase in the number of students accepted in Kuwait University (KU), The Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) and private universities and new branches for International universities in Kuwait. Hence, higher education possesses all the characteristics of service industry, i.e. intangible, heterogeneous, inseparability, variability, perishable and the customer (student) participates in the process. Service quality has become a predominant part of all advanced organizations’ strategic plans. Increasing attention paid to service quality has resulted in more progress in (public) and profit (private) organizations. In fact, service quality will have the distinct advantage of being able to meet whatever challenges may still lie ahead. The purpose of the present study is to examine student’s expectations, perceptions and disconfirmation towards service quality delivered by public and private colleges in Kuwait. The service quality disconfirmation paradigm to be used in this study using a modified version of SERVQUAL as a measure. Data to be collected from full-time and part-time students in Kuwait University, PAAET and three private universities.
