Vascular Effects of Some Neuro-Hormonal Peptides

This project has been planned to elucidate the exact mechanian of action of some neuro-humoral peptides on the splanchnic blood flow. The regulatory mechanisms of splanchinic blood flow are still not fully understood and there la lot of recent interest in this subject. The specific als of the project is to study the site and mechanism of action of various peptides on the gastro- Intestinal blood flow. This study is expected to provide Information about the mechanics of post-prandial increase in the gastrointestinal blood flow. The information derived from this study is expected to leave clinical relevence and a peptide with vasodilator properties restricted to gastric blood vessale and devoid of stimulating properties on acid sacretion may be of therapeutic valus.
