Prevalence of Rheumatic Diseases in the Kuwaiti Population

أعدت منظمة الصحة العالمية بالتعاون مع المنظمة الدولية ضد الروماتيزم "ILAR" برنامجاً وقائياً في عام 1981 للسيطرة على الأمراض الروماتيزمية من خلال استبانة أعدت خصيصاً لهذا البرنامج. في هذا البحث سيتم استخدام الاستبيان الذي أعدته المنظمتان في هذا البرنامج لتطبيقه على المجتمع الكويتي لتحديد نسبة الإصابة بالأمراض الروماتيزمية في دولة الكويت، واعداد برامج متابعة وتقييم للحالات المصابة. وستطبق الدراسة على عينة عددها (7500) شخص بالغ من المحافظات الخمس. ومن ثم تحديد الأشخاص الذين يعانون من مشاكل روماتيزمية وإجراء فحص إكلينيكي ومخبري لهم من قبل استشاري الأمراض الروماتيزمية. وسوف تستخدم الإحصائيات لتحليل المعلومات والنتائج التي تشمل تحديد السكان بشأن توزيع النسب مثل معدلات اختبارات المسح، حساسية ووقت الفحص، معدل انتشار المرض ومعدل حدوث الحالات الجديدة والنسب.

The goal of this study is to use the Community Oriented Programme for the Control of Rheumatic Disease (COPCORD) Core Questionnaire (CCQ) in communities in Kuwait to determine the magnitude of rheumatic diseases in the Kuwaiti population. Arising from this goal are three main objectives: 1. To adapt COPCORD, CCQ for use as a rheumatic disease screening instrument in Arabic, including the translation and back translation of the instrument and an assessment of its cross cultural equivalence and reliability; 2. To use the Arabic version of the CCQ to determine the point prevalence of rheumatic diseases in the Kuwaiti population; 3. To determine the incidence of rheumatic diseases in the Kuwaiti population over the period of 12 months using the Arabic version of the CCQ. Descriptive statistics will be used for the analysis of the data. These will include population estimates, frequency distributions, such as screening test rates, sensitivity and specificity characteristics, prevalence, incidence and ratios. Tests that describe other properties of the screening instrument and the characteristics of the different rheumatic diseases in Kuwait will be conducted.
