Traffic accidents in Kuwait - Typology, Human, Vehicle and Environment updating and upgrading the Data Base.

تمثل حوادث الطرق أحد أهم أسباب الوفيات في دولة الكويت. وتأتي في المرتبة الثانية بعد الوفيات الناجمة عن الحالات القلبية. لذا فقد استهدفت الدراسة بناء قاعدة بيانات حول حوادث الطرق التي تتمخض عن إصابات في دولة الكويت والتي من شأنها ان تلقي الضوء على الكيفية التي يمكن بها التدخل للحد من اثر تلك الحوادث. حيث تم تفحص أنماط حوادث الطرق مع تركيز الاهتمام على (حوادث المركبة الواحدة – حوادث التصادم – الحوادث التي تتضمن مشاة). كذلك تم مناقشة عناصر الإنسان، والمركبة، وبيئة الطريق ، بالإضافة إلى التفاعل المشترك فيما بينها و العوامل السببية ذات العلاقة. شملت الدراسة 9624 حالة حوادث مرورية هي كافة الحوادث المرورية التي تم التبليغ عنها لإدارة المرور بوزارة الداخلية في الفترة من 1995-1997.

Road Traffic Accidents (RTA) represent a major cause death in Kuwait 2nd only to CVS. A total of 9624, that is all the cases reported to the RTD Ministry of Interior in the period 1995-1997 were included in the study. The 3 types single vehicle (25%), collisions (35%) and pedestrian accidents (30%) were discussed individually. The human, vehicle and road environment and their interaction together with the relevant etiological factors were discussed. Single vehicle (SV), Collisions (COL), and accidents involving pedestrians (PD) constitute the major categories. Availability of a database on the nature and causes of R.T accidents would throw light on possible interventions. The control would address the pre crash; crash and the post crash phases.
