Documentation of Kuwait Maritime Heritage

استهدف البحث جمع وتصنيف تراث دولة الكويت البحري من مصادره المختلفة (الوثائق والمقابلات) وتسخيرها للباحثين للاستفاده منها في تأكيد كيان دولة الكويت بإبراز دورها البحري في المجالات السياسية والاقتصادية والعسكرية منذ عصور في منطقة الخليج العربي والمناطق المجاورة. ولقد قام مركز البحوث بإنشاء قسم يعني بالتراث الملاحي الكويتي والخليجي بصفة خاصة والعربي والاسلامي بصفة عامة. وفي هذه المرحله تم البحث ونقل سفينة فتح الخير الكويتية إلى المركز العلمي في دولة الكويت، كما قام الباحث بإجراء العديد من المقابلات مع بعض نواخذه الكويت وصناع السفن وقد حفظت المقابلات كمراجع للباحثين. وتم طباعة عدد من الروزنامات البحرية لنواخذة السفن الشراعية، بالاضافة إلى اصدار فيلم وثائقي عن رحلات السفن الشراعية الكويتية الى ساحل افريقيا الشرقي

The research focused on collecting and classifying information on the marine heritage of the State of Kuwait from different sources (documents and interviews), and availing them to researchers. The purpose was to underline the historical role of maritime heritage in political, economic and military fields within Kuwait, the Gulf and the region. The Center for Research and Studies on Kuwait (CRSK) had established a division concerned particularly with Kuwaiti maritime heritage and also the Gulf, Arab and Islamic maritime heritage in general. In this phase of the research, ‘Fath Al-Khair’ Kuwaiti ship was transferred to the Scientific Center in the State of Kuwait. Researchers conducted many interviews with some old Kuwaiti ship captains and ship builders. Records of the interviews were kept as resources for researchers. A number of marine calendars were printed for sea boat ‘Rabbis’, in addition to a documentary film on the voyages of Kuwaiti sailing boats to the coast of northern Africa.
