Study and Analysis of the Adaptive Hypermedia Learning System at the Arab Open University, Kuwait

في هذا المشروع، سنقوم بدراسة وتحليل فكرة الوسائط المتعددة التكيفية والتي تعد من الاتجاهات الجديدة للتعليم الأكاديمي الجامعي في السنوات الأخيرة. في مشروعنا هذا، نعرف فكرة الوسائط المتعددة التكيفية على أنها المزيج من بيئة التعليم المباشر "وجها لوجه" وبيئة التعلم عبر الإنترنت أو الوسائط المتعددة، وذلك باستخدام (نظام إدارة التعلم). سوف يناقش المشروع مفهوم إعادة موضع التعلم الإلكتروني لتكملة التعليم التقليدي. وعلاوة على ذلك، سوف نقوم بتحليل نموذج التدريس المطبق في الجامعة العربية المفتوحة – فرع الكويت. من خلال هذا التحليل نهدف إلى دعم التطور من التعليم التقليدي إلى التعلم الحيوي وزيادة الاهتمام بالمواضيع المطروحة عن التعلم الإلكتروني في الجامعة. إضافة إلى ذلك، فإن المشروع سيشتمل على دراسة استقصائية عن العوامل المؤثرة في النهج الأكاديمي لطلاب الجامعة واستكشاف آثارها العلمية.

In this project, the use of the blended learning model was described and studied, which is based on a mixture of collaborative learning, problem-based learning and independent learning. This model is realized as a combination of a face-to-face environment and online learning, using a proprietary learning management system (LMS). The system is based on adaptive hypermedia and in addition to supporting learning and testing, it introduces completely new constructivist and cognitivist elements to education. Further, the methodological approach implemented was explored by the Arab Open University, examined how far the students are satisfied with this kind of learning, and studied how deep the learning outcomes are fulfilled by them through this pedagogical approach. Moreover, we have investigated how the LMS promotes students’ motivation to learning and how it establishes learning as an active and interactive process by supporting collaborative activities. Students’ views with respect to the courses, resources, services, and course delivery are among the measures that we have encountered in the study. Tutor’s views with respect to these factors were measured as well. A thorough analysis and extensive results were presented using several statistical parameters and measurements. The study concluded that the blended learning has several advantages and strength when compared to its counterparts, the classical learning and the e-learning.
