A Short Term Study of Indoor Radon Levels in Dwellings in the State of Kuwait ( Phase I)

يهتم المشروع بالقياسات التفصيلية للمدى القصير عن مستويات الرادون وأثر المتغيرات الموسمية على حوالي 330 مسكناً تغطي مناطق مختلفة من دولة الكويت. البيانات التي تم الحصول عليها سيتم الاستعانة بها في تقييم مخاطر الإشعاع نتيجة تنشق الرادون والإجراءات المطلوبة للتغلب على المخاطر الناشئة عن التعرض لذلك. إن الأهداف الرئيسية من المشروع هي وضع أساليب وقدرات لتقييم مستوى الرادون في دولة الكويت وتوفير المعلومات الأساسية حول مستوياته في دولة الكويت بغية توفير تقدير عن المخاطر الصحية المحتملة من التعرض للرادون ولمساعدة وإرشاد الإجراءات الحكومية المستقبلية لتوجيه وضبط مستويات الرادون داخل البيوت والأماكن ذات المستويات العالية من الرادون، وذلك من خلال إعداد قاعدة بيانات واسعة عن مستويات الرادون في دولة الكويت.

The project is concerned with detailed short-term measurements of the radon levels and the effect of seasonal variations for about 330 dwellings covering the different districts in Kuwait. The data obtained will serve in the process of radiation hazards evaluation due to radon inhalation, and the actions needed to overcome the exposure risk. The primary objectives of the project are to establish methods and capabilities for the evaluation of radon in Kuwait, to provide basic information about the levels and prevalence of radon in Kuwait, to provide an estimate of the potential health risk from radon exposure, to help and guide future government action for monitoring and controlling the radon levels inside houses and places with higher radon levels and to establish a database for the levels of radon in Kuwait.
