Impact of Implementing Surgical Safety Checklist on Patients’ Health Outcomes in A Governmental Hospital in Kuwait

مقدمة: الأحداث السلبية المرتبطة بالجراحة تستحق الانتباه كما أن تحسين النتائج الجراحية هى من بين عناصر الجودة الأساسية للرعاية الصحية للمريض وعلاوة على ذلك، أكدت المنشورات الأخيرة أن الاستخدام المتواصل لقائمة التحقق التى وضعتها منظمة الصحة العالمية يحسن الاتصال ويضمن موثوقية التدخلات الروتينية مثل الوقاية منى المضادات الحيوية.
الأهداف: دراسة فعالية تنفيذ قائمة السلامة الجراحية على نتائج الاعتلال والوفيات الجراحية .
الطريقة: تم ستخدام تصميم دراسة التدخل سيتم مراقبة حوالي 500 عملية جراحية قبل وبعد تنفيذ قائمة التحقق من السلامة الجراحية لدراسة ممارسات الفريق الجراحي وسيتم جمع البيانات باستخدام أداتين، القائمة المرجعية للسلامة الجراحية لمنظمة الصحة العالمية- نسخة الكويت واستبيان مواقف السلامة.
النتائج المتوقعة: تعزيز سلامة المرضى في الإجرءات الجراحية

Introduction: adverse events associated with surgery deserve particular attention. Improving surgical outcomes are
among the fundamental quality of health care to the patient. Moreover, recent publications have confirmed that the sustained use of the WHO checklist improves communication and ensures the reliability of routine interventions such as antibiotic prophylaxis.
Objectives: To examine the effectiveness of implementing surgical safety checklist on the surgical morbidity and mortality outcomes.
Methods: intervention study design was used. Subjects: around 5()0 surgeries will be observed for the practices of the surgical team before and after implementations of the surgical safety checklist. Data will be collected using 2 tools including the WHO surgical safety checklist-Kuwait version and safety attitude questionnaire.
Expected outcome: the results will help for promoting patient safety in surgical and invasive procedures.
