Present and Future Wastewater Quantities and Re-use Demand in the State of Kuwait

تعد إعادة الاستفادة من مياه الصرف المعالجة خياراً قابلاً للتطبيق لزيادة الموارد المائية في دولة الكويت، كما يمكن في العادة جمع ومعالجة حوالي 60-70% من إمدادات مياه الشرب. وفي حال أمكن استرجاع حوالي 40% من مياه الشرب في صورة مياه صرف صحي معالجة فإن تلك النسبة سوف تكون كافية لتشكيل بديلاً عن المياه قليلة الملوحة، إلا أنه لكي يتم تطوير خطة مؤثرة وفعالة لإعادة الاستفادة من مياه الصرف الصحي فإنه لابد، كخطوة أولى، أن يتم توفير البيانات الأساسية للقائمين على وضع الخطط حول كميات مياه الصرف الصحي التي يتم توليدها ومواقعها ومستلزمات المعالجة والطلب المحتمل من مياه الصرف الصحي المعالجة ومواقعها ونوعيتها. والدراسة المقترحة موجهة نحو جمع البيانات المتعلقة بكميات مياه الصرف المعالجة ومواقعها المحلية والصناعية في دولة الكويت حيث سيتم جمعها على قرص ممغنط ومطبوعة ومتوقعة حتى عام 2020، كما تشمل الدراسة على تحليل تقييم البيانات التي سوف يتم جمعها لتحديد الاتجاهات العامة لمياه الصرف الصحي ومدى الحاجة المستقبلية لها في دولة الكويت. واستناداً إلى البيانات التي سيتم جمعها والمعلومات المتاحة حول نوعية المياه، سوف يتم إعداد خطة قصيرة الأمد مؤثرة وفعالة لإعادة الاستفادة من مياه الصرف المعالجة

Kuwait has an extremely arid climate. The search for alternate sources of water and efficient and effective management of all water sources have become priority items for the country`s sustainable development. The reuse of properly treated wastewater is a viable option for replenishing the country`s water supply. Usually 60-70% of the potable water supply can be collected and treated. Even if 40% of potable water is recovered as treated wastewater, it will suffice to replace the brackish water need. However, to develop an effective and efficient wastewater reuse plan, as a first step, planners need basic data on the generation and locations of wastewater, treatment facilities, potential demands and locations of demand for treated wastewater, and quality of treated wastewater.

The proposed study is directed to collecting data on wastewater quantities and locations of municipal and industrial wastewater in Kuwait. The study includes the analysis and evaluation of collected data to set trends in wastewater generation and demand for the present and future in the State of Kuwait. Based on the collected data and available water quality Information, an effective and efficient short-term plan for wastewater reuse will be prepared. The output of the study includes an inventory of wastewater data, trends of future wastewater generations and demands and a short-term plan for treated wastewater reuse
