Development of Arabic Alphabetic Sign Language Program

قام المعهد بتنفيذ العيديد من المشاريع الزائدة في مجال خدمة ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة بصفة عامة وذوي الإعاقات السمعية بصفة خاصة.
حيث طور المعهد القاموس الكويتي للغة الإشارة الوصفية والقاموس الإماراتي والقاموس العربي الموحد وقاموس ما قبل المدرسة.
وإنطاقا من دوره الريادي، تقدمت إدارة مرسة النور والأمل بنات بطلب لإدارة المعهد لتطوير برنامج تدريب علي أبجدية الأصابع الإشارية العربية والذي سيكون بمثابة أداة تدعم العملية التعليمية في المدرسة .
هذا وتتكون أبجدية الأصابع الإشارية العربية من جميع الحروف الهجائية العربية والتي يتم التعبير عنها بأصابع اليد وفقاً لترتيب معين لكل حرف.
ومن المتوقع أن يستغرق تنفيذ هذا المشروع قرابة ستة أشهر وبميزانية تقدر بحوالي 7170 د.ك (سبعة آلاف ومائة وسبعون دينار كويتي ).

The Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) launched this project in October 2004, with the objective of developing a tool to train the deaf users on the sign language of the Arabic alphabets.
The project team managed to create a database for all the Arabic alphabets that contains video shots of the sign language of corresponding letters along with a detailed explanation of each sign. This tool enables the teachers to print a picture representing such letter along with the explanation.
This application was packed in a package in order to be distributed to the student at the beginning of each year. Also, this application will be denoted to al the deaf centers in the GCC countries as well as the Arab countries.
Due to the short duration of the project the interim report and the final report are merged into one report. It includes details of all technical activities that took place in this project along with designation of all its deliverables and outputs
