Abstract English
In Phase I of this project, the development of sulfonated melamine formaldehyde products and a laboratory procedure for synthesizing them was successfully completed. The new resins were found to be excellent superplasticizers for concrete and are superior to analogous commercial products. This proposal discusses the details of the research required to scale up the preparation procedure to commercial levels. The proposed studies include experimentation with 10- and 200-liter pilot plants, optimization of the preparation procedure, and determination of the colerance limit on each factor affecting the preparation. In addition, ful specifications and characterizations will be conducted on the produced resins.
