Conducting a Periodic Statistical Study in Educational Facilities for Measuring the Water Consumption

"تشير المعلومات المتوفرة بأن كمية المياه المستهلكة في مدارس وزارة التربية في السنوات الأخيرة في ارتفاع مستمر، نتيجة لازدياد عدد المدارس والطلبة (بنين وبنات) وكذلك التوسعات التي يجري تنفيذها في مدارس وزارة التربية. كما تشير نتائج الدراسات بأن استمرار استخدام المياه في مدارس وزارة التربية بشكل غير مستدام سيؤدي إلى رفع مستمر في فاتورة المياه. ويسبب انعكاسات سلبية على ميزانية وزارة التربية إذا لم يتم وضع خطط وإجراءات فورية للحد منها.
كما أن برامج التوعية بحاجة إلى زخم أكثر مما هي عليه، وذلك يتطلب رصد ومراقبة وقياسات دورية توضح الوضع المائي بالكامل وتأثيره على المصدر المائي.
ومن الجدير بالذكر بأنه لا يوجد معلومات دقيقة متعلقة بكمية وكيفية استهلاكها، وإنما المعلومات المتوفرة هي عبارة عن معلومات محدودة على شكل قرارات دورية تقوم بها وزارة الكهرباء والماء بين الحين والآخر.
لذا ستقوم هذه الدراسة على إجراء إحصائية دورية للمرافق التربوية لقياس الاستهلاك المائي لمدارس مختارة بغرض تطبيق إجراءات الكفاءة المائية لتحسين الوضع المائي في المدارس ورفع الوعي المائي بين الطلبة والكادر التعليمي والخدمات بغرض ترشيد استهلاك المياه، ومعرفة الاستهلاك الحقيقي من خلال قراءة آلات تسجيل توضع على عدادات المياه، مما سيعمل على تحديد المنسوب الأدنى الليلي لكل مدرسة، وهذا سوف يعطينا معلومات دقيقة حول كيفية استخدام المياه والإصلاحات الواجب القيام بها وبرامج التوعية الإرشادية الواجب تطبيقها. "

"The available information indicates that the amount of water used in the schools of the Ministry of Education in recent years is dramatically increasing as a result of the increasing in the number of schools and students (boys and girls) , as well as expansions and renovation of the current schools’ buildings.

As well, the results of studies indicate that the current practice of unsustainable water use in the schools will lead to continuously raising of the water bill. This will certainly cause a negative impact on the Ministry of Education's budget if it did not set up plans and immediate action to manage them.

Current awareness programs should be more enforced, and this requires a periodic monitoring and controlling that can explain the water situation and its impact on the water source.
It is worth mentioning that there is no periodic accurate information regarding the amount and usage of water. But the available information is limited to some decisions carried out by the Ministry of Electricity and Water periodically.

Therefore, this study will be based in Conducting a Periodic Statistical Study in Educational Facilities for Measuring the Water Consumption, and raising awareness among students, teaching staff and services as well as to estimate the real consumption by connecting Water Data Loggers to the water meters. The loggers will measure and show the Minimum Night Flow (MNF) for each school. MNF will give us accurate information about the water usage behavior inside the schools as well as the required measures and solutions needed to be carried out in the future."
