Investigation of Long-Lived Gamma Emitting Radionuclides in Meat Consumed in Kuwait and Estimates of Annual Effective Doses

هذه الدراسة تهدف إلى معرفة الإشعاعات الطبيعية والتي من صنع الإنسان في لحوم الماشية المستهلكة في دولة الكويت. وتحديداً، سيتم قياس كمية الأنوية المشعة طويلة الأمد الباعثة لأشعة جاما في عينات للحوم من السوق المحلية. وبناءً على هذه القياسات، سيتم تقدير الجرعات الإشعاعية لمستهلكي اللحوم. إن أهمية هذه الدراسة تكمن في المساعدة على إيجاد مستوى للتعرض الإشعاعي الناتج من استهلاك الطعام.

This study proposes to investigate the natural and man-made radioactivity in livestock meat consumed in Kuwait. Specifically, long-lived gamma emitting radionuclides will be measured i n meat samples collected from the local market. Based on these measurements, annual effective doses will be estimated. 1t is believed that the output of this study will help in establishing a baseline of the radioactivity levels exposed to the general public from the ingestion of food.
