Quality Assessment and Waste Reduction in Kuwaiti Manufacturing Industries

يعتبر فصل الصيف في دولة الكويت جافاً بشكل عام، لذلك فإن القيام بعملية التبريد المسبق لهواء المكثف لأنظمة تكييف الهواء المبرد هوائياً تعمل على تحسين سعة التبريد وتقليل الطلب خلال فترة الحمل الذروي وتخفيض الاستهلاك السنوي للطاقة، ويمكن الوصول إلى نسبة خفض ملحوظة ومهمة في الأحمال القصوى من خلال تركيب أنظمة التبريد المسبق لهواء المكثف لجميع أجهزة تكييف الهواء المزودة بمكثفات مبردة هوائياً. إن هذه المميزات المهمة والتي تؤدي إلى تحقيق جدوى اقتصادية وتقنية عالية عند استخدام مثل هذا النظام، يمكن تحقيقها عندما يتم التقليل من الآثار السلبية لبعض المعوقات وهي الانخفاض في كمية الهواء المتدفق عبر المكثف، والحد من كمية الماء المستهلك خلال مرحلة التشغيل لنظام التبريد المسبق لهواء المكثف.

Manufacturing companies in Kuwait need to attain high levels of quality and efficiency and reduce manufacturing cycle-time as the competitive parameters for production operations. Therefore, lean production is being introduced as the approach to assess quality and reduce waste in Kuwaiti manufacturing industries. In this research project, a conceptual lean production model has been developed and used to assess the current quality and efficiency levels in selected Kuwaiti manufacturing industries. Assessment results were used to suggest potential changes that can be implemented to improve specific manufacturing processes in the participating Kuwaiti industries. These include two selected processes representing the Petrochemical and Paint Industry and the Metal and Equipment Manufacturing Industry.
