Using Value Methodology for Deployment of Scrap Tires to Fight Desertification in Kuwait and Ration Water

تواجهه دولة الكويت العديد من التحديات المرتبطة بالبيئة، حيث يرتبط البعض من هذه التحديات بعوامل الطبيعة والبعض الآخر من صنع الإنسان. وإذ يتفق الباحثون على ضرورة مواجهة هذه التحديات بطرق موضعية، مبتكرة وفعالة واقتصادية، فإن مشكلة التصحر تعتبر واحدة من أهم التحديات الطبيعية التي تواجه البيئة. والتصحر هو نوع من أنواع تدهور الأراضي بحيث تصبح الأرض في المنطقة المتضررة جافة نسبيا على نحو متزايد للتحول إلى قاحلة، وبالتالي فقدانها لهيئاتها المعتادة من المياه ومن الغطاء النباتي والحياة البرية. وتنتج مشكلة التصحر عن مجموعة متنوعة من العوامل، مثل تغير المناخ والأنشطة البشرية. هذا وتعتبر مشكلة التصحر مشكلة خطيرة تواجه الأيكولوجية المحلية والبيئة العالمية، وتتطلب مكافحتها استثمارات ضخمة وحلول تكنولوجية، وهي بدورها يصعب الاستمرار عليها عادة لفترات طويلة، ومن ثما فإنها تصبح غير اقتصادية أو ذات جدوى على المدى الطويل. تركز الدراسة في هذا المقترح البحثي على الاتجاهات التالية : • التخلص من مكبات النفايات المتنامية للإطارات الضخمة في الكويت بطريقة ودية وآمنة للبيئة. • معرفة بديل اقتصادي لتكنولوجيا معروفة من مجموعات Waterboxx. • ترشيد استخدام المياه وإدارة الموارد المائية الأكثر قيمة. • دعم الكفاءات والقدرات الوطنية في دولة الكويت في مجال زراعة الشجيرات والأشجار في الصحاري باستخدام أحدث التقنيات.

uwait is facing many environmental challenges. Some of which are natural while others are manmade. Responding to these challenges in localized, innovative, effective and economic ways are the encounters that researchers rising to. One of the vital and significant examples of the natural challenges is desertification. Desertification is a type of land degradation in which a relatively dry land region becomes increasingly arid, typically losing its bodies of water as well as vegetation and wildlife. It is caused by a variety of factors, such as climate change and human activities. Desertification is a significant global ecological and environmental problem. Fighting desertification requires huge investment and technological solutions that most of the times are becoming hard to maintain and hence, they become not economical and manageable in the long run. This study will focus on the following directions: • Getting rid of ever growing huge tire dumpsters in Kuwait in a safe and environmental-friendly manner. • Finding out an economical alternative to well-known technology of Waterboxx kits. • Harvesting rain water and managing the most valuable water resources. • Capacity-building in planting shrubs and trees in Kuwait deserts using state-of-the- art techniques.
